Sampling of comments
The following are some of the comments made on the forms. Comments which offered no constructive value have been omitted
- Need more meat for Tacos/Mexican
- Potatoes on Roast Beast were in short supply
- Meal Sheets need to provide Human measures
- Food List should include detail and summary so we can tell why we're buying eggs or whatever
- Multiple themes doesn't seem to work very well - we should focus on doing one theme well rather than 4 or 5 poorly.
- Should we go computerless in the year 2000?
- Need Real recipes in a single place for all meals.
- Need to establish quiet times and required wake ups. Maybe one designated waker for each day?
- Is WCST still working or have we just extended it further?
- Need some sort of recognition for completed hobbies.
- Baking should concentrate on dessert items (cookies/pies/cakes) which are easier and usually taste better than bread.
- Christmas decorating should involve everyone.
- Should role-reversal be attempted for specific people (perhaps drawn at random)?
- Need to impose some penalty (possibly financial) for leaving early/not bringing group gear/having too much personal gear/not transporting kids who need it
- Follow schedule more closely
- Bunk assignments were a huge problem. Should cabins be assigned randomly?
- Arriving on Day 1 of camp should not guarantee a crappy bunk
- Perhaps have fewer schedule events
- Continue relaxed control over participants - encourage participation without making a federal case out of it.
- Lazer tag should be outdoors, not indoors.
- Follow schedule more closely
- No Nintendo
- Need better control over arrivals and departures.
- Separate some campers.
- No video games in camp
- Blind Hike should have at least one guide
- Both Food Preparation and Cleanup are improved over the past several years.
- Duty Roster style worked well.
- We still need improvement in bread baking - a lot of cave loaves.
- Plan free time better (Huh?)
- Make more mention of the theme for each day both before and during camp.
- At least one Capture the Objective style game.
The following activities, meals and or themes were suggested. Where available, details have been provided.
- The placemats were popular, perhaps a placemat contest or assignment for XXIV
- Card game tourney
- Volleyball with no hands; feet and legs only
- Scout Patch Displays or trading.
- Slide show
- You Don't Know Jack tourney
- Treasure Hunt/Road Rally type game.
- Formal Dinner with Uniforms
- International Day - different foods from different countries, games other countries play
- Campfire Program with skits and songs either in or outdoors
- Kick off ceremony or event to build team spirit.
- Role Reversal Week
- Some kind of explosives day
- Have an explosives day
